About the Role:

As an Electrical Team Leader, you will play a key role within a multidisciplinary diagnostic team, responding to breakdowns and developing effective repair strategies. You will work closely with the Shift Management team (Production and Engineering) to ensure safety, quality, and production targets are consistently met. Additionally, you will be responsible for delivering key business communications to your team, including performance updates and safety briefs. You will also need to interrogate and fault-find on various equipment and control systems, implementing solutions with your team to maintain continuous production. Your team will provide a comprehensive operational and maintenance service, with a focus on flexibility and cross-functional collaboration. Each team member will be expected to develop working knowledge across all departments, contributing to the overall site performance. Training and support will be provided to ensure you meet these requirements, with opportunities for both academic and managerial qualifications actively encouraged.

  • Lead a multidisciplinary team of skilled and apprentice craftsmen in all aspects of the workplace
  • Drive improvements in performance and reliability across the site.
  • Plan and coordinate labour and material requirements, in collaboration with Section Engineers.
  • Oversee and delegate tasks to team members and contractors, monitor attendance and holidays, and assist in the delivery of technical and safety training.
  • Perform hands-on technician duties when needed, including Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM) inspections.
  • Supervise and coordinate contractors and other service providers.
  • Write, review, and ensure adherence to risk assessments, method statements, and procedures (e.g., JTDs).
  • Enforce compliance with safety protocols, such as Working at Height, Hot Work, and Confined Spaces, through proper planning and supervision.
  • Maximise the use of the Maintenance Management System to enhance maintenance activities.
  • Undertake continuous training to develop new skills and leverage provided training resources.
  • Contribute to plant improvement projects, ensuring continuous site enhancement.
  • Take initiative in responding to breakdowns, diagnosing faults, and implementing effective solutions.
  • Communicate business updates to your team, including safety briefs and performance insights.

About You:

  • The ideal candidate will hold a recognised engineering apprenticeship (Preferably HNC but minimum ONC level or equivalent).
  • The ideal candidate will possess sound plant engineering knowledge and experience of industrial systems such as: Hydraulic systems, Pumps, drives and gearboxes, Heavy machinery, Water cooling systems, Material handling systems, Dust extraction systems, Robotics and PLCs, Vacuum Systems, AC & DC circuits.
  • Self-starting driven individual capable of leading a small team.
  • Ability to work with cross functional groups.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to methodically fault find any issues to root cause and front-line rectification.
  • Experience of working under permit systems previously or has knowledge of how permit systems operate.
  • A customer focussed attitude with an understanding of prioritisation with current resources.
