RMS Recruitment is working with a prestigious client in Stocksbridge to recruit for an exciting opportunity as a Steel Fabricator. Our client is part of a global integrated steel business with a focus on sustainability and innovation. As a leading producer within the GREENSTEEL sector, they combine assets from across the steel supply chain, including liquid steel production from both raw and recycled materials, to manufacturing high-value, precision-engineered steels. They serve critical industries such as construction, energy, aerospace, automotive, and infrastructure.

  • Position: Steel Fabricator 
  • Type: Permanent Position
  • Salary: £38593.64 per annum. 
  • Working Hours: Day Shift Monday to Friday. Working one in two weekends.

About the Role:

  • Ensure maximum productivity while adhering to relevant Health and Safety procedures.
  • Perform planned and routine maintenance on various assets.
  • Carry out pipework fabrication, installations, and replacements across the site according to agreed plans.
  • Fabricate structural steel items of varying grades and thicknesses, working from engineering drawings.
  • Manage your own workload effectively, ensuring all tasks are completed within the relevant deadlines.
  • Utilise the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to maintain services by completing and providing feedback on planned and reactive work.
  • Demonstrate a methodical approach to work with strong attention to detail.
  • Apply analytical and problem-solving skills, along with effective decision-making abilities and verbal communication.

About You:

  • Proficient in using a Computerised Maintenance Management System (INFOR).
  • Strong understanding of welding and pipework standards.
  • Trained to a recognised standard in welding and pipefitting activities.
  • Experience in using various welding equipment and processes, including MMA, MIG, TIG, and Oxy Fuel cutting.
  • Experience in testing and inspecting welded surfaces and structures for flaws using techniques such as Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI) and Dye Penetrant is desirable but not essential.
  • Must possess a range of skills applicable to a heavy industrial environment, with experience in plating and welding of both heavy and light fabrications; pipefitting experience is also desirable.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering and technical drawings and work effectively with technical data.
  • Experience in adhering to welding procedures.
  • Must hold a current Driving License
