RMS Recruitment is seeking a Production Manager to join our client’s leading manufacturing team based in Newton Aycliffe. This is the perfect role for someone with experience in Production Management.

About the Role:

As a Production Manager, you will oversee all production activities in a 24/7 sheet extrusion operation, ensuring maximum efficiency and quality. You will coordinate with other departments on matters related to quality, materials, planning and maintenance. Reporting to the Plant Manager, you will focus on targets, efficiency, and overall objectives. You will foster positive employee relations, prioritising quality, continuous improvement, engagement and development while maintaining the highest standards of health, safety.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for overseeing the efficient production operations across all production lines.
  • Ensure that all employees work to the Company Health and Safety policies also the reporting all Health and Safety incidents.
  • Minimising lost production time through ensuring efficient practices, also by taking an active role in correcting technical processing issues.
  • Supporting the Shift Managers relating to all aspects of managing the production teams.
  • Ensuring that products are manufactured to specification and in accordance with the production plan where possible.
  • Checking that all quality checks are conducted during the shifts working hours and that the highest standard of quality is maintained.
  • Ensuring that production related paperwork including accident reports, quality documentation, daily reports and order requests are completed in the correct manner.
  • Meeting deadlines, KPI’s and all measurable targets.
  • Liaising with other department Managers regarding materials, consumables quality issues and maintenance requirements for the lines.
  • Ensuring the ongoing training of operatives and the maintaining of training files.
  • Ensuring that all production employees adhere to the company’s policies and procedures.
  • Conducting appraisals, PEG discussions and investigations as necessary.
  • Updating the shift deployment and flexi- rota working pattern, ensuring consistency and fairness.
  • Ensuring the highest standard of housekeeping is maintained.
  • Playing an active role in maintaining the OEE inputs and 5S.
  • Chairing the daily production meeting and presenting the weekly production update.

  • Strong communication organisational, motivational and people skills.
  • Able to work to tight deadlines, achieving targets whilst prioritizing work in a continuous process environment.
  • Work equally well as part of a team or as an individual.
  • Good problem solver and strong decision maker.
  • Flexible and adaptable to the business needs.
  • Excellent administration and record keeping skills.
  • IT skills to a competent level, able to produce reports and enter data.
