Job Details:

• Location: Toton
• Position: Rail Loader
• Type: Temp to Perm
• Working Hours: Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday 10.00am-10.00pm (with a 30 minute unpaid break) Some flexibility is required as on occasions the trains don’t arrive on the set days and we ask for flexibility on Mon, Wed, Fri, Sun
• Salary: £13.54 per hour

About the role?

Working under the supervision and co-ordination of the Rail Manager and Rail Supervisor, you will be required to support with unloading and loading vehicles onto the train in a safe and effective manner ensuring distribution deadlines are achieved.

Key responsibilities of the Role:

• To Unload inbound vehicles from the train
• To load outbound vehicles onto the train for distribution
• To check vehicles prior to loading and after unloading ensuring no damage to the vehicles
• To document and communicate any damage to the Rail Supervisor.
• To complete all relevant paperwork and report any discrepancies.
• To ensure health and safety procedures are followed at all times.

Full Training will be given on loading and unloading off the train with damage inspection training. It is important to highlight as part of the role you will be working in confined spaces and working at heights.

The primary function of this role operates outdoors in a large automotive compound facility. Its associated duties are conducted in varying weather conditions throughout the year (PPE is provided to support such tasks). As you will be expected to store and transport vehicles in an outdoor logistics facility which also involves moderate amounts of general walking throughout the working day.

About you?

• To be successful, you must be over 25 years old, possess a valid driver’s license with fewer than 6 penalty points, and have no DR10 offenses for insurance purposes.
• To succeed in this role, candidates must be able to work the specified shift times above.
• The ideal candidate will be confident in their driving and have experience with automatic and manual vehicles
• The ideal candidate will have a level headed approach. This is required when driving vehicles to ensure the safety of yourself & your colleagues.
• The ideal candidate will have basic understanding of health and safety and cooperate with managers to comply with Health & Safety regulations.
