RMS Recruitment is working with a prestigious client in Rotherham to recruit for an exciting opportunity as a CAD Technician/Draughtsperson. Our client is part of a global integrated steel business with a focus on sustainability and innovation. About the Role:

As a CAD Technician/Draughtsperson, you will play a vital role in the Engineering Services Department, which supports a diverse range of engineering projects across the business. Working closely with project/design engineers, plant engineers, and operations managers, your responsibilities will include producing technical drawings, managing bills of materials (BOMs), maintaining engineering databases, and providing high-level customer service.

  • Provide CAD drawing support to the Engineering and Plant teams.
  • Manage document storage systems, updating Autodesk Vault with current drawings and manuals.
  • Locate and manage drawings in the archive system, obsolescing outdated records and cross-referencing new versions as needed.
  • Offer guidance on the use of AutoCAD and Autodesk Vault and assist in the Site Services Certificate process to help identify utilities during excavation planning.
  • Contribute to the operation of a unique metals recycling facility, supporting processes that turn scrap metal into future-ready materials. This includes work with cutting-edge technologies like electric arc furnaces, casting machines, and rolling mills.
  • Be part of an innovative team driving environmentally friendly manufacturing through green energy and recycling.

About You:

  • The successful candidate should hold an Engineering qualification or have significant experience in Engineering drawing, an AutoCAD qualification with 5+ years’ experience in CAD Drawing and document management (Autodesk Vault or similar). Experience with GTX Raster CAD would also be beneficial.
  • The jobholder needs to be a good communicator at all levels as a proactive team player and possess necessary skills to work with Senior managers and Section Engineers on a variety of projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage deadlines effectively.
  • Confidence in developing and delivering training to colleagues.
  • For the successful candidate training will be provided to resolve any knowledge or skills gaps.
