RMS Recruitment is seeking a Plater (Metal Coating Specialist) to join our client’s team based in Middlesbrough. Our client is a leading company specialising in the design, manufacture, and supply of high-quality tools and equipment for various mechanical and industrial applications. They offer a comprehensive range of products and have a large team of Metal Finishers to support these tasks.

  • Type: Long Term Temporary Position
  • Shift: Monday – Friday (Day Shift 7am-3pm or Back Shift 3pm-1.30am)
  • Salary: £20.57 Day Shift, £22.63 Back Shift

About the Role:

Working as a plater, you would be responsible for applying various metal coatings to parts and products through electroplating or other plating processes. This position ensures that the plated coatings meet industry standards and customer specifications for quality and durability. The Plater works with different chemicals and machinery to achieve the desired surface finish on a variety of materials.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Reading & Interpreting Engineering drawings.
  • Measuring and marking out plates and sections for cutting.
  • Operating plate cutting machine where required and trained to do so.
  • Assembling steelwork in line with engineering drawings.
  • Maintaining material traceability during assembly.
  • Aligning and checking tolerances.
  • Tack welding fabricated parts together.
  • Guiding overhead cranes and hoists when trained for moving and assembling plates.
  • Working in confined space scopes where required.
  • Responsible for cable management, general good housekeeping in working area.
  • Working in line with strict adherence to Quality/Health & Safety Procedures.

About You:

  • Time served (or possess other equivalent qualifications) in Plating. (skill test will be required)
  • Excellent understanding of plating codes and standard.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills as well as good knowledge of production processes and systems.
  • Experience in heavy engineering.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Required to demonstrate a positive and motivated approach to your work combined with an ability to work to a high standard within time constraints.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Full understanding of health & safety and safe work behaviours.
  • Possess a vehicle and hold a full UK driving license.
