Tool Maker

County Durham 

Permanent Contract 

Monday to Thursday 7:00am-4:00pm and Fridays 7:00am-11:30am 

Salary- £32,000-£37,000 (paid weekly) – Salary dependent on experience. 

Are you looking for a hands-on role in a fast-paced metal fabrication environment? Our client, a leading metal fabrication company is looking for an experience tool maker to join their team on a permanent basis. 

The post holder will be responsible for making precision tools with a heavy bias towards jigs, fixtures and holding devices. Other responsibilities will include the maintenance and refurbishment of press tools. 

The jigs and fixtures produced will be used in the manufacturing process to ensure we make customers product to the required specifications. The successful candidate will have an extensive background in a toolroom or very similar environment. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce bespoke manufacturing aids
  • Use a variety of manual milling, turning and grinding machines 
  • Work in a small team in bespoke tool room 
  • maintaining own quality and safety standards
  • Keeping records
  • maintaining equipment and supplies

 

About you 

  • Experience of setting, programming and operating XYZ prototrak milling machines or lathes – Desireable 
  • Previous experience in Engineering industry as tool maker is essential 
  • Attention to detail and accuracy of work 
  • Be organised and able to multi task 
  • Be efficient with work practices 
  • Be able to communicate effectively to own team and other departments
